Our engineers, designers, product managers, and other team members build our products and services to serve people. The well-being of the community informs our decision making, which in turn creates more value for our business over the long term. 2021 Progress


Businesses must seek to do the right thing — from the way they build products, to the way they treat customers, to the impact they have on their community. At Snap we believe this is a moral imperative and a key part of being kind. The Society section of our report describes our efforts in 2021 to deepen our commitment to inclusion by design while continuing to strengthen our privacy and safety by design programs; spread kindness to our communities through our expanded Snap Academies, World Kindness Week and Yellow Accelerator; and leverage our platform to engage snapchatters on mental health, drug education/prevention, and civic engagement.


We seek to be kind to the planet by applying a sustainability lens to every aspect of our business — from our workplaces to our products and throughout our value chain. The Planet section of our report describes our efforts in 2021 to assess climate risk, uplevel our climate commitments, reduce our carbon emissions, operationalize our Climate Action Plan towards our 2030 Net Negative emissions goal, maintain carbon neutrality, reduce the impacts of our products and our supply chain, and raise awareness about relevant environmental issues through Snapchat.


We show kindness to our 6000+ global team members through building an environment where they have the opportunity to grow professionally and feel safe, welcome, and able to show up authentically to be their best selves. The People section of our report describes our efforts in 2021 to deepening our commitment to building a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace as laid out in our 2022 Diversity Annual Report. We also describe how we seek to support our team’s mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing, leading with empathy and allyship.


The way we run our business is driven by kindness, going above and beyond what’s simply required to ensure that positive impact shines through in all that we do, even where it's not always expected. In 2021, our Board became more diverse and experienced and we continued to pay fair taxes where we do business as responsible members of communities where we operate. We enhanced our Integrity & Compliance programs and leveraged our enterprise risk program to identify and link enterprise-level risks with company strategic objectives.
